This coming November marks 10 years that I have lived in Hinton. I started working here summer of 2010 and my wife and I had both moved up here by November.
-What are your favorite things about our community?
My favorite thing that a small town like Hinton can offer is that common sense and accountability to the community can sometimes replace rules and regulations. The general population can keep each other accountable to be a good citizen. I do also really like looking at Roche Miette Mountain.
-Where do you get your creative inspiration?
I was initially inspired to get into woodworking to make a medal holder for my wife. She ran a lot of road races and needed a way to showcase them proudly, her friends saw the result and asked for their own. The hard work people put into their training and races pushes me to mirror that in the medal holders. I have since branched off into making other items and some of the most popular items started as just an exercise to learn a woodworking skill. As I go forward I find I am being drawn to larger projects that allow me to showcase the wood's own unique grain and texture. Some pieces of wood more naturally become a coffee table than others and letting the piece of wood inspire me is the next step.
